Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A speeding car driver hit a group of Kanwariyas returning from Narmadapuram after collecting holy water on Sunday night. The incident took place on the Old Jail Road, where three to four Kanwariyas were injured in the accident.
Angry over the incident, a group of Kanwariyas staged a protest outside the police control room demanding action against the car driver.

Upon receiving the information, police officials reached the spot and persuaded the Kanwariyas to end the protest. After discussions, the Kanwariyas resumed their journey towards the Pipleshwar Mahadev temple.
The driver was driving recklessly
The Kanwariyas alleged that the driver of a blue car was driving carelessly and rammed into them.

During the sacred month of Shravan, several Kanwar Yatris across the nation walk barefoot for miles to collect holy water in the name of Lord Shiva.
Kanwar Yatris wear saffron attires and carry a bamboo stick to balance the holy water in their pot. They collect this water from nearby sacred rivers, especially Ganga and head back to their home to offer the water to Lord Shiva.
