Saurabh Sharma Disproportionate Assets Case: ED Attaches Sharmas' Assets Worth ₹ 92 Crore

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Directorate of Enforcement, Bhopal has provisionally attached movable and immovable assets worth Rs 92.07 crore, belonging to Saurabh Sharma, his family and aides, said officials on Wednesday. 

These properties were attached under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act in connection with disproportionate assets case.

Sharma associates and other entities include Sharad Jaiswal, Chetan Singh Gaur, M/s Aviral Building Constructions Pvt Ltd, M/s Aviral Enterprises Pvt Ltd, M/s U R Infrastructures Pvt Ltd and others. The assets represent the "proceeds of crime" derived and obtained by Saurabh Sharma in his name or in the name of his relatives, associates apart from firms, companies, society, etc. "

owned or controlled" by them, the agency said. The ED investigation revealed that Rs 10 crore cash and 54 kg gold (total worth about Rs 52 crore) seized from an abandoned SUV solely ‘belonged’ to Saurabh Sharma.

This has ended months of speculation over the ownership of the cash and gold stash found in SUV which is registered in the name of Chetan Singh Gaur, an associate of Sharma. 

Besides, the search and seizure actions had led to freezing of bank accounts with balances of Rs. 8.29 Crore and seizure of cash to the tune of Rs 14.20 Lakh and silver of worth of Rs 9.17 lakh.

The total attachment and seizure in the case stands at Rs 100.36 crore.    The ED, I-T Department and the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Police are the three agencies probing Sharma and the cache recovered from the vehicle on December 20 from an area in Bhopal.
