Satna: A day before retirement, govt teacher gets bribery seeker caught red-handed by Lokayukta police

Rewa Lokayukta Police raided the office of District Education Center in Satna from where the Assistant Project Co-ordinator (Finance) posted in the District Education Center has been caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The arrest was made a day before the retirement of the clerk.
According to police, the accused Manish Prajapati was earlier posted as Assistant Dairy Officer in the District Treasury. In the year 2019, after deputation he became in-charge of finance in the District Education Center. He had demanded a commission of Rs 25,000 in lieu of paying the bill for the repair work done in the hostel built under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
The complainant Jan Shikshak Umesh Trivedi who is Superintendent of Boys Hostel, Jawahar Nagar said that Prajapati has stopped the payment from the month of March this year. Despite repeated requests, the payment was not made and Rs 25,000 was demanded by clerk.
Hostel Superintendent Umesh Trivedi had raised a complaint with the Lokayukta police. An amount of Rs 5,000 was taken earlier by him and on Wednesday Manish Prajapati was caught by Lokayukta police while accepting remaining amount of Rs 20,000.
The complainant is to retire on June 30. Lokayukta police have registered a case under the relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and investigation is on.
