Retired DGP Duped Of ₹72 Lakh By Kin In Bhopal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A retired Director General of Police (DGP) was duped of Rs 72 lakh by his nephew and his wife who lured into launching a pharmaceutical company in partnership.

On April 5, the crime branch police registered an FIR on his complaint and are carrying out investigations in this connection. The retired special DGP RK Garg has met DGP Kailash Makwana seeking action against his nephew and his wife.

According to reports, RK Garg has been living in Mohali after his retirement as special DGP on June 30, 2018. Garg has accused his nephew Rajnish Kumar Goyal and his wife Snehlata of duping him of Rs 72 lakh.

The couple took cash in instalments from him on pretext of opening a pharmaceutical company. The retired official in his complaint said Rajnish and his wife offered him a partnership in the company and asked him to invest Rs 1.25 crore.

The couple initially took Rs 50 lakh in two instalments from him for purchasing land for the company in Punjab. Between 2019 to 2022, the couple took Rs 72 lakh from the retired police official on pretext of purchasing land, setting up a factory, buying furniture and other works. He even gave jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh to them.

However, Garg was shocked when he learnt that his nephew purchased the land in his wife’s name and sold it to someone in February 2025. When he asked them to return his money, the couple were reluctant.

Crime branch officials said an FIR had been registered and the evidence provided by the retired DGP was being examined.
