Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Four-year-old Smohi Avadhiya of Lalbarra in Balaghat dustict was airlifted to AIIMS in Bhopal on Sunday. The health department pressed PM Shri Air Ambulance into service to airlift the child who is suffering from septicemia (blood poisoning) that often leads to septic shock and organ failure.
The girl also suffers from cerebral palsy, a condition that affects movement and posture because of damage to the developing brain. This is second time when PM Shri Ambulance has been used in Balaghat. Earlier, the service was used from Gondia to send Shivkumar Sharma, injured in a Naxal incident, to Delhi for treatment.

On direction of Balaghat district collector Mrinal Meena, Smohi who was fighting for life in district hospital was sent to Bhopal AIIMS for treatment at 7.30 am on Sunday. Balaghat CMHO Dr Manoj Pandey said, “Smohi suffering from organ failure was admitted to PICU in the district hospital. As her health deteriorated, it was becoming difficult to treat him in the district. As a result, help of district administration was taken for air ambulance.”
The police administration, health department and other departments also cooperated in this work. Balaghat district collector Mranal Meena told Free Press that girl was suffering from septicemia and cerebral palsy. She has been sent to Bhopal AIIMS,” he addd.
