Jahangarh Sanctuary proposed near Kuno
Officials of the Kuno National Park, Sheopur, have sent a proposal to the forest department to develop a sanctuary close to its periphery. If the sanctuary is developed, wild animals, including cheetahs, will get an extra protected space for their movement.
A senior officer of the Kuno National Park said that Jahangarh revenue village is situated close to the park limits. There is a proposal to develop the sanctuary by relocating the Jahangarh village, where 270 families live. To develop the Jahangarh sanctuary, permission has been received from the State Wildlife Board.
During the rainy season, life in Jahangarh village becomes difficult for want of basic facilities. Hence, the relocation of Jahangarh will also help the villagers improve their living standards.
