MPHRC seeks report on death of woman, unborn child due to 'medical negligence' at Bhopal JP hospital

Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission has sought a report on the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child allegedly due to 'medical negligence' at JP Hospital. The commission has directed the hospital superintendent to submit the report three weeks time, said the officials on Monday.
The Commission took note of two other cases reported in Chhindwara and Narmadapuram and sought detailed reports from the respective officials of the districts.
In JP hospital, a mother and child died because of alleged carelessness of the hospital staff.
A pregnant woman Chanchal Tiwari (27), a resident of Khajuri-Kala, was admitted to JP Hospital on Saturday for delivery. The woman was in labour, however, none of the duty doctors allegedly attended to her and the unborn child died in the womb. The doctors did not perform any surgery on her and on Sunday the woman died following delivery complications.
Taking note of the alleged medical negligence, the Commission has asked the hospital superintendent to handover a detailed report and also inform if any compensation has been given to the family.
In the second case, the Commission has also sought a report from the Chhindwara collector on the death of three persons in Pandurna due to lightning.
Lightning had claimed the lives of three persons and left three injured. The Commission has inquired if any compensation has been given to the victims under the RBC 6(4). Collector has been asked to submit a detailed report within one month.
The third case on which the commission has sought report is regarding death of a rape accused in police custody in Narmadapuram district. The family members of deceased Raja Kahar (24) have alleged that Raja consumed poison due to police atrocity during his custody. The commission had asked the concerned authority to present a report within one month.
