Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The body of junior doctor, who drowned in the Narmada River on Holi, was recovered on Monday in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur. It was found trapped between rocks near Lamhetaghat, about 500 meters from the accident site.

The victim, a second-year pathology student at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, had gone to the river with five friends after celebrating Holi. While bathing, he slipped and was swept away by the strong current.

According to information, the deceased has been identified as Dr. Nikhli, a native of Madhya Pradesh's Chhattarpur. Sources report that the SDRF and Home Guard teams had been conducting a rescue operation for three days. Strong water currents made the search difficult. On the fourth day, as the flow slowed, the team spotted the body near Ghughra Ghat. Rescue teams retrieved the body using ropes. It was sent for postmortem at the same medical college where Dr. Nikhil was studying.

Bhedaghat police have registered a case and started an investigation. Post mortem of the victim is underway and may reveal more details about the same. Untill then, police has recorded statements from family members. Dr. Nikhil was originally from Chhatarpur and was pursuing his second-year pathology studies in Jabalpur.
