Morena (Madhya Pradesh): Morena district collector's bungalow was gheraoed and a protest was staged outside the same on Saturday. The tension erupted after a young man's body was found under suspicious circumstances.

It is said that the deceased’s family and supporters demonstrated, blocking MS Road and trying to enter the District Collector’s residence.

They demanded a murder case be registered. In response, the police used force to disperse the crowd and arrested former district president of Azad Samaj Party, Manoj Saemil.

Police waits for post-mortem report

The incident occurred near Abhinandan Vatika in the Aampura area, where the body of Sonu Khare was discovered late on Friday night. The police sent the body for a post-mortem and began an investigation. Since there were no visible injury marks on the body, the police insisted on waiting for the post-mortem report before proceeding further.

However, the deceased’s family refused to wait and demanded for a murder case to be filed. After the post-mortem on Saturday, they took the body to the Collector’s bungalow and staged a protest, leading to a road blockade.

‘Surrounding collector's residence is an offence’

Regarding the matter, Morena ADM CB Prasad stated, “A youth’s body was found in Aampura yesterday. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Since there were no visible injury marks, the post-mortem report is crucial. Directly registering a murder case is not possible. Moreover, surrounding the Collector’s bungalow is a legal offense, so the protestors were removed using force.”

The officer further said that further action will be taken based on the investigation results.
