As Sharma failed to repay the loan amount, in 2007 the bank officials hatched a conspiracy and sold off the land for Rs 1.50 lakh; the actual cost of which was Rs 3.98 lakh.

The registrar did not check the documents and gave a go ahead for the auction. Sharma approached Lokayukta Bhopal and filed a complaint. During the investigations, it came to fore that the five persons had hatched a conspiracy to cheat the farmer.
