Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The temperatures are gradually rising in Madhya Pradesh in the month of April 44°C recorded as the highest so far.
On Friday, Khajuraho, Guna, and Nowgaon recorded the highest temperatures, crossing 44°C.
A total of 28 cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur, experienced extreme heat, marking the hottest day of the season so far.
Weather expected on Saturday
Heat will persist in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior.
What do meteorologists say?
According to the Meteorological Department, the increase in temperature is due to hot winds blowing across the state. Sun’s warmth can be felt from the early morning, and the heat peaks by noon. The nights are also warmer.
However, weather experts mentioned that a slight drop in temperature may occur after April 22.
Chhatarpur district was the hottest, with Khajuraho at 44.6°C and Nowgaon at 44°C.
Weathermen warn that April to May will bring more heatwave days, possibly 15 to 20 days in May alone. Around 30 to 35 days of hot winds are expected across various districts during this period.
Weather expected in next two days
April 20: Day temperatures may exceed 40°C in major cities, with night temperatures around 25°C.
April 21: Strong hot winds may blow, especially affecting districts near Rajasthan.
Temperature records
On Friday, Guna recorded 44.3°C, Ratlam, Sagar, and Sidhi touched 43.8°C, Bhopal recorded 42.2°C, Indore 41.7°C, Gwalior 43°C, Ujjain 42.8°C, and Jabalpur 42.1°C.
Over 28 cities saw temperatures at or above 40°C.
