The incident occurred on the intervening night of 27th December, when one of the miscreants cut the chassis of the ATM with a gas cutter and taken out ₹14 lakh cash. They looted the ATM in just 15 to 20 minutes and fled away in their car.
Gwalior SP Dharamveer Singh told Free Press that the police have made special five teams to chase the miscreants.
Big revelations made during investigation
The police during the investigation had to check more than 200 CCTV cameras to chase the car of the miscreants. The police then reached Haryana to arrest the miscreants. During investigations, it was revealed that the miscreants used to change the registration number plate of their car as soon as they changed the state, so that no one could stop them considering it to be a local vehicle.
The police then arrested the main accused Shaleen Khan alias Shaleen, leader of the gang and was an expert in cutting ATMs. He used to decide everything in the group as to when and where the crime would be committed. The gang leader has so many associates and even if a member is caught, he was replaced by another. The police have recovered 2.75 lakh cash, car and ATM cutter from Shaleen and seized it.
