Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A moneylender died after a group of miscreants fired multiple shots at him outside his office in Gwalior on Sunday. The unidentified accused allegedly brandished their guns after executing the crime.

Police have taken the matter into cognizance and suspect a financial dispute as the reason behind the crime. An investigation is underway at present.

According to information, the incident occurred in the Banshipura area under the jurisdiction of Murar Police Station on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Dinesh Srivas, a resident of DD Nagar, and originally from Bhind district.

According to the deceased's brother-in-law Dilip Srivas, Dinesh had been living in Gwalior for the past three to four years and was engaged in the money lending business. He previously lived in a rented house in Banshipura but had recently moved to DD Nagar two months ago.

Dilip Srivas also said that he was unaware that Dinesh was involved in any dispute. He was attending a wedding when he received a call informing him about the murder. By the time he reached the scene, the police had already taken Dinesh’s body for a post-mortem examination.

Murar Police Station in-charge Madan Mohan Malviya confirmed that three rounds were fired at Dinesh, with one bullet hitting his head, causing instant death. The accused remain unidentified, and the exact reason for the murder is still unclear.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem, and registered a case. A detailed investigation is in progress.
