Civil Defence Mock Drills In Bhopal, Indore & Other Cities To Educate People For War-Like Situation From May 7; Govt To Rope In 850 Villagers To Monitor Naxal Movement In MP

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): To monitor the movement of Naxals in the affected districts of Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori, the state government has decided to rope in 850 local villagers who will keep a watch on Naxal activities.
They will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹25,000 for a year. A special name will be given to this group.

Meanwhile, the government has carried out a record procurement of wheat. Around 81 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been purchased so far, and it is likely that the total will reach around 85 lakh metric tonnes this season. Last year, 40 lakh metric tonnes of wheat were purchased.
The government has also won a court case related to Nazul land in Pachmarhi. Now, 3.95 hectares of land will be used to promote tourism activities in the area.
Mock drills on Wednesday
As per directives from the Home Ministry, a mock drill will be conducted in five major cities—Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and others—to educate people on what steps to take during a war-like situation, especially when a siren is sounded. The decision was taken in the backdrop of rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam attack.
