Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A ‘Misabandi’ (person detained under Maintenance of Internal Security Act in the 1970s) refused felicitation by higher education minister Inder Singh Parmar during the Independence Day function held in Damoh.
His grievance was that even after running from pillar to post, he could not get the registry of a piece of plot which he had purchased from the Housing Board 40 years ago. He alleged it was because he had refused to pay a bribe to the officer concerned.
When minister Parmar, accompanied by Damoh collector Sudheer Kochar, tried to move towards Misabandi Santosh Bharti, he refused to be felicitated.
Instead, he gave a complaint letter to the minister and left the venue in a huff, leaving the minister in an embarrassing situation. The collector tried to pacify him but in vain.
As per reports, Bharti said that he could not get the registry done in his name as he had refused to pay a bribe of Rs 5000. He had won the case in the high court but things remained the same, he claimed, adding that he had gone to jail thrice under MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act).
