Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the state government is set to provide ₹2 lakh financial aid for widow remarriage.
He was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the 377th birth anniversary of the Bundela warrior Maharaja Chhatrasal on Thursday in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur.
Here, he highlighted the government's commitment to social reform. CM Yadav made a major announcement aimed at empowering widows.
Referring to the successful Operation Sindoor, he said the government will now help widowed women remarry by conducting their weddings and offering them a financial aid of ₹2 lakh under the Kalyani Yojana.
“If a sister has lost her husband for any reason, she deserves a second chance at happiness. The government is running the Kalyani Scheme for the widow sisters. Under this scheme, the government provides ₹2 lakh for the remarriage, he stated.”
3-day Virasat Mahotsav inaugurated
Mohan Yadav also inaugurated a three-day cultural festival - Virasat Mahotsav - at Mausahania, organised by the Maharaja Chhatrasal Memorial Research Institute with support from the Department of Culture.
During the inauguration, CM Yadav paid tributes to Maharaja Chhatrasal, calling him a symbol of courage and national pride.
“The land of Bundelkhand is the land of warriors and valor. The battle fought by Maharaja Chhatrasal was not just a personal or regional struggle - it was a fight for the dignity and self-respect of our nation,” he said.
