Madhya Pradesh Board To Offer Two English Options In Class 9, 10 From Session 2025-26
The School Education Department had already introduced the option of "General" and "Specialised" Mathematics for class 9 in the current session.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh board will introduce two options for the English subject—'General' and 'Specialised'—in the 9 and 10 grades starting from the next academic session.
The School Education Department had already introduced the option of 'General' and 'Specialised' Mathematics for class 9 in the current session. Now, the English curriculum will also be divided into two parts.
Students who wish to study English as a language subject in class 11 must choose "Specialised English" in class 9. Those opting for "General English" will take the corresponding exam. This approach is already followed in several states, including Uttar Pradesh.
Currently, around 11 lakh students are enrolled in class 9 across the state, with 5.80 lakh choosing "Specialised Mathematics" and 5 lakh opting for "General Mathematics." These students will move on to class 10 next year.
As a result, two different question papers for Mathematics will be introduced in the upcoming board exams.
However, despite offering these options, the School Education Department has yet to differentiate the course content, leading to confusion among teachers.
To improve outcomes, school principals have stated that the "Best of Five" system will be phased out, starting from class 9 in the 2025-26 session and class 10 in the 2026-27 session.
