Madhya Pradesh August 13 2025, Weather Update: 79% Rainfall In State, Drought Hits Indore-Ujjain While Heavy Rain Alerts For Several Districts Today
The Indore-Ujjain region is facing drought-like conditions, causing damage to soybean crops.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh has received an average of 29.7 inches of rain this monsoon season so far, which is about 79% of the expected rainfall.
For the past 12 days, many districts including Bhopal have seen less rain.
The Indore-Ujjain region is facing drought-like conditions, causing damage to soybean crops. However, districts in Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, and Shahdol divisions are doing better.
On Wednesday, rain started around 4 AM in Damoh and continued till 8 AM, making the morning dark due to thick clouds. Pipariya in Narmadapuram also had rain for about an hour. Itarsi saw light showers after 8 AM.
The weather department said a strong weather system has been active since August 15, which may bring heavy rain across the state again.
Today, a heavy rain alert has been issued for districts like Sehore, Harda, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat. These areas may receive up to 4.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours.

On Tuesday, Umaria received more than 2.5 inches of rain. Gwalior and Sidhi got about half an inch of rain. Light rain was also recorded in Indore, Pachmarhi, Balaghat, Sagar, Rewa, Mandla, Dindori, Seoni, Maihar, and Damoh.
The average rainfall for Madhya Pradesh is 37 inches, while so far only 29.7 inches has fallen. This means the state is still about 7.3 inches short of the normal rainfall. Last year, the state had 6.6 inches more rain than usual.
Senior weather scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said there is currently a trough and a cyclonic circulation system active.
From August 13, a cyclonic circulation system may become active over the northwest Bay of Bengal.
This system will become clearer in the next 24 hours and may bring more rain to the state.
