Madhya Pradesh is experiencing intense heat, with temperatures crossing 44°C in several cities and a heatwave alert issued for 22 districts. Khajuraho recorded the highest at 44.6°C. Schools up to Class 8 are shut in some districts due to rising heat. Thunderstorms and light rain are expected from April 28–29, offering temporary relief across parts of the state.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state is witnessing intense heat, with temperatures rising sharply across several regions including Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, and Rewa divisions.
Cities in Malwa-Nimar, including Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram, are also experiencing extreme heat.

Severe Heat: Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Morena, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Agar Malwa, Shajapur, Dewas, Sehore, Harda, Betul, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Damoh, Katni, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi and Singrauli.
What do meteorologists say?
A heatwave alert has been issued for 22 districts, including Gwalior, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Satna, Mandla, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Raisen, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, and Alirajpur.
Due to the rising heat, holidays have been declared in Anganwadi centres and schools up to Class 8 in Indore from April 27 to 30.
Classes for senior students will run in the morning hours. Similar steps have been taken in Gwalior and Ujjain.
The weather department has predicted thunderstorms and light rain in parts of the state from April 28 to 29 due to a western disturbance.
On Saturday, temperatures crossed 44°C in six cities. Khajuraho recorded the highest temperature in the state at 44.6°C.
