Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Special Protection Group (SPG) has taken over security at the programme venue at Jamburi Maidan, where Prime Minister Modi is set to address the Women Empowerment Convention on May 31. SPG officials held a meeting with senior police officials on Wednesday evening to discuss security arrangements.
In the afternoon, SPG officials reviewed the security setup at the venue and issued necessary instructions to the concerned police officials.
Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra issued an order on the day declaring a 5-kilometre radius around Jamboree Maidan as a red zone or no-fly zone. The flying of drones, gliders, hot air balloons, etc., has been restricted. The restriction will be in effect from 6 am to 4 pm on May 31 during the PM’s visit. Strict action will be taken against those violating the order.
Meanwhile, additional police forces from across the state have started arriving for duty at Jamboree Maidan ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. Police personnel, including women personnel from various districts, are reporting at the police control room and are being accommodated in different quarters and barracks.
Security for women inside the programme venue will be managed by a large contingent of women police personnel, led by DIG Monica Shukla.
