Jabalpur: Special Court of EOW orders investigation in RTO Santosh Pal’s disproportionate assets case

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The special court (economic offences) has directed the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to conduct an investigation against Jabalpur RTO Santosh Pal and his wife, Rekha Pal in the disproportionate assets case.

The Special Judge Anoop Kumar Tripathi has given the above order under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court has also directed the Superintendent of Police EOW, Devendra Pratp Singh to examine all the facts and submit the investigation report on August 11, 2022.

According to reports, Dheeraj Kukreja and Swapnil Saraf, residents of Jabalpur, had filed a complaint against both of them alleging that they had disproportionate assets.

Advocate Manish Mishra argued on behalf of the complainants before the court. Mishra said before the court that the allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to the income was serious and demanded the investigation into the matter. Following the allegation, the court also heard the arguments of the appellant side. After hearing both the arguments and after perusing the attached documentary evidence, the court issued the said investigation order.

On the other hand ARTO Santosh Pal and his wife Rekha Pal have been posted in Jabalpur RTO office for the last many years. Several auto drivers and BJP leaders were protesting to remove Pal in the last few years but he remained on the post due his connection with the higher ups.

Besides, a video of pal went viral on social media in which he was spotted threatening the auto drivers.
