EOW Raid Unearths ₹ 5.89 cr In Assets in Jabalpur

Action was taken against Deputy Commissioner of Tribal Welfare Department.

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Economic Offence Wing (EOW) raided the houses of Tribal Welfare Department deputy commissioner Jagdish Prasad Sarvate in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Sagar and unearthed movable and immovable assets worth ₹5.89 crore.

They were acting on a complaint of disproportionate assets against him. Sarvate is presently holding additional charge of office of Tribal Welfare Department in Sagar district.

After preliminary investigations of the complaint, three teams of EOW sleuths carried searches at Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sarvate's official residence in Shankar Shah Nagar area, his private residence in Adhartal both in Jabalpur, a house in Bag Mugahlia in Bhopal and an official residence in Sagar.

Three teams are scrutinizing the records related to the movable and immovable assets including land registries, household inventories, jewellery, cash, movable properties and bank, insurance documents.

As of now they have assessed the movable and immovable property worth ₹ 5,89,95,624 including costly 56 liquor/wine bottles worth ₹1,08,740, one car and two wheelers.

The other assets traced including 17 immovable properties worth Rs 3.17 crore, two houses and one flat in Bhopal worth ₹ 37.32 lakh, one house each in Shankar Shah Nagar Jabalpur ₹ 7.06 lakh, household items over ₹ 43 lakh and parental house in Adhartal on 3000 square feet worth ₹ 1.50 crore. The assessment of the assets of Sarvate is going on.

The case is registered under sections 13 (1)(B), 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act.
