Child’s hand gets stuck in escalator at Bhopal rly station, hospitalised

Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): A boy, aged about 7-8 years, got stuck in escalator at platform number 1 at railway station here on Tuesday. Railway doctors rescued him and took him to Hamidia Hospital.

Medical Superintendent of Hamidia Hospital Dr Ashish Gohiya said child’s hand was badly crushed. “He is under observation. If things go right, surgery will be performed. How much child recovers will depend on vascularity. ”

According to railway officials, the boy Vishal Parihar was getting down in the escalator at around 2.50 pm while keeping his hand below. As soon as escalator landed on the platform, his hand got stuck in the empty space at the bottom corner.

The staff working at the station saw the child's hand stuck in the escalator and immediately informed the doctor at Railway Hospital in Nishatpura.

As soon as the information was received, Dr Kuldeep Swaroop Mishra and Dr Shruti Mendhekar reached the station along with the nursing staff. With the help of other staff, they removed the hand of the child by inserting an iron rod in the escalator. He was given first aid on the platform.

Doctor Mishra and the nursing staff took the child to Hamidia Hospital and admitted him to trauma unit.

A railway male nurse has been told to look after the child. Vishal’s parents are labourers and hail from Ashoknagar. They stay at Shankaracharya Nagar in Bhopal.
