Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): State government has begun recruitment for candidates who hold dual degrees and had qualified for Teachers Eligibility Test. The School Education Department issued appointment letters to over 747 such candidates on Monday, said an official of school education department.

“Appointment letters to 601 candidates was sent on Monday. Other 146 candidates who were sent appointment letters earlier have been called for document verification on July 1,” said commissioner, school education, Abhay Verma. Candidates who have to get their documents verified will visit Subhash Excellence School on July 1.

In the beginning, candidates with dual degrees were denied appointment letters and were put on the ‘hold list’. There were about 3,000 such candidates who adopted all means of protest for past more than six months. They had met the school education minister Inder Singh Parmar and other senior officials of the department.

Later, a committee was formed on directions of minister that not only looked into controversy and legality related to dual degrees of candidates but also issues like appointment of OBC candidates.

The committee submitted its report a fortnight back after which the decision was taken that teachers who finished their degrees through correspondence and regular means simultaneously could be considered. Some of the candidates had also approached the court and the case is pending.
