Bhopal: Man’s 2nd Marriage Exposed After 1st Wife Gets Govt Maternity Money
The matter came to light when Laxmi unexpectedly received ₹5,000 in her bank account under a government scheme meant for pregnant women

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A case of fraud and conspiracy has come to light in the state after a woman discovered her husband’s second marriage through a surprising bank transaction.
According to reports, Raisen resident Avadhnarayan was married to Laxmi Sen of Damoh district. However, due to domestic disputes, Laxmi had been living separately from him for the past few years. During this period, Avadhnarayan secretly married another woman named Aarti and started living in Bhopal with her.
The matter came to light when Laxmi unexpectedly received ₹5,000 in her bank account under a government scheme meant for pregnant women. Shocked by the transaction, Laxmi investigated the matter and found that the money was credited based on medical records from a private hospital in Bairagarh, where Avadhnarayan's second wife, Aarti, had recently delivered a child.
It came to fore that Awadhnarayan admitted his second wife to the hospital but provided bank account number and other details of his first wife Laxmi.
Realising the fraud, Laxmi lodged a complaint with Damoh district police. Following a preliminary investigation, police registered a case against Avadhnarayan under charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and other relevant IPC sections. The case has now been transferred to Bhopal police for further action. Sub inspector Priyamvada said further investigations were underway in this connection.
