Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Shyamla Hills police on Sunday registered an FIR against a conman for duping a man of Rs 6 lakh on pretext of providing him a job at tribal welfare department. The accused even gave a fake appointment letter to the aspirant.
The fraud surfaced when the candidate approached Tribal Welfare department officials with the appointment letter on Friday. Efforts were underway to trace and arrest the accused, police officials said.
SI Ghumendra Singh Bais said the complainant Ramesh Visandhare met Alok Bamne in 2023 who promised him of providing him a government job. Sometime later, Bamne called Ramesh and offered to provide him a job of a clerk at tribal welfare department at Shyamla Hills.
He demanded cash Rs 6 lakh for providing the job. Ramesh paid some advance to Bamne near Doordarshan Kendra and the rest of the amount in cash, cheque and other means. The accused gave a fake appointment letter of the tribal welfare department to Ramesh recently claiming that he had arranged for the job as promised to him.
However, Ramesh received a shock when the officials told him that the appointment letter was fake. Realising that he has been duped, Ramesh approached Shyamla Hills police and registered an FIR against Bamne.
Police officials said that Bamne has similar cases registered against him earlier and has duped many persons on different pretexts. More people may approach police with their complaint soon.
