Bharat Rang Mahotsav-2025 Kicks Off With Staging Of 'Agnisuta Draupadi' At Bhopal's Bharat Bhavan
It is the story of the epic female protagonist Draupadi, the daughter of the mighty King Drupad from Mahabharata. Draupadi came into existence when a yagna was performed by the King with the desire to father a child who would grow up to seek revenge on his behalf.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A five-day Bharat Rang Mahotsav-2025 (BRM) began with staging of Hindi play Agnisuta Draupadi at Bharat Bhavan in the city on Wednesday. Written by Mohan Joshi and directed by Joy Maisnam, the play was presented by Taam, Imphal and Manipur.
It is the story of the epic female protagonist Draupadi, the daughter of the mighty King Drupad from Mahabharata. Draupadi came into existence when a yagna was performed by the King with the desire to father a child who would grow up to seek revenge on his behalf.

The play unfolds through the eyes of Draupadi where she is found exploring and questioning the paradoxes and ironies of her life, namely - Who is she? What is the purpose of her existence? Can she dictate her destiny? Her quest is the key narrative around which the play revolves. Recorded music, symbolic sets and props were used in it.
Written by Athol Fugard and Directed by Atanu Sarkar, a 90-minute Sinhala play ‘Sindu Kirilli 2 (Veronica Returns) will be presented by Red Wings Theatre Group, Sri Lanka on February 6. The National School of Drama (NSD) is organising the world’s largest theatre festival from January 28 to February16, across 13 cities in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
