Just three days later, on May 26, he reportedly died in a road accident in Dubai. However, his family only came to know about his death on June 16 through an email sent to Gwalior's cyber cell by a social worker living in Dubai.
The email included Suraj’s photo and a copy of his passport.
On June 17, police informed the family about his death. Suraj’s wife Chetna and his father Krishna Sharma then went to the Indian Embassy in Delhi on Wednesday to seek help in bringing the body back, but they said the officials there did not cooperate.
With last hope, they met Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday to request support.
Suraj’s mother, Janakshree Sharma, is devastated. She said her son had gone to Delhi looking for work. After reaching Delhi, he told her everything was fine and later informed the family on May 23 that he was heading to Dubai. Suraj last spoke to his family on the night of May 25. After that, his phone was unreachable.
Union Minister Scindia has assured the family that he will try to bring the body back to Gwalior as soon as possible. He also said that the cause of death will be investigated properly.
Now, Suraj’s mother has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help bring her son’s body back to India. The family has also requested an investigation into the incident.
Suraj lived in the Sainik Colony under Gola Ka Mandir police station area in Gwalior.
