Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old B.Tech student was stabbed to death in Bhopal’s Bilkhiriya area late Thursday night. The victim, identified as Nitesh Chandravanshi, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Friday morning.
According to police, Nitesh, originally from Musa Dehi village in Chhindwara, had been living on rent in Kokta No. 1, Bhopal, for the past three years with his friend Prashant. He was a third-year B.Tech student at a private college on Raisen Road and also worked at a wire manufacturing company.
On Thursday night, around 11:30 p.m., the company’s bus dropped him about 400 meters from his home. While walking back, two unidentified men on a scooter allegedly attacked him from behind with a knife. Bleeding heavily, Nitesh called his friend Prashant for help, telling him that the attackers were unknown and that he had no personal disputes.
Prashant suspects the attack may have been a robbery attempt, though police found that Nitesh’s mobile phone and other belongings were still with him and had not been taken by the assailants. The victim suffered two deep stab wounds on his back and waist.
Bilkhiriya police station in-charge Umesh Chauhan said a case of murder against unidentified persons has been registered, and nearby CCTV footage is being scanned to get clues about the assailants. The motive for the killing remains unclear, he added.
