Shocking Video: School Tour Bus Plunges Into Turin's Po River In Italy, 64-Year-Old Driver Killed

A tour bus crashed into the Po River in Turin, Italy on Thursday, March 27, resulting in the death of the 64-year-old driver, Nicola Di Carlo, and injuries to three pedestrians.

Disturbing footage circulating on social media captures the moment the empty bus rolled backward near the Vittorio Emanuele bridge before plunging into the water. In the video, pedestrians can be heard shouting warnings while motorists honked their horns in desperate attempts to alert the driver.

According to Italian newspaper La Stampa, there were no passengers aboard the vehicle, which was reportedly en route to Milan to collect elementary school children for a planned excursion to Turin's Egyptian Museum.

Witnesses report that Di Carlo was pulled from the water "covered in blood" but still alive by quick-thinking bystanders, including a rower who jumped into the river to assist with the rescue. Despite emergency services rushing to the scene, they were unable to save the driver's life.

Local media outlet Corriere della Sera suggests the crash was likely caused by the driver suffering a medical emergency.

During the incident, the coach also collided with three women who sustained minor injuries.

Turin Mayor Stefano Lo Russo stated: "The investigations are just beginning. The only objective evidence we have are the videos from the cameras, both from the Police Headquarters and ours."
