'Was That Bappa’s Sign?' Video Shows Garland Falling From Bhuleshwar Cha Raja Before Tragic Idol Collapse That Killed 2; Sparks Emotional Reactions Online

A video showing a garland falling from the idol of Bhuleshwar Cha Raja moments before its arrival procession has sparked an emotional debate among devotees online. The video has gained attention following the tragic collapse of the 22-foot-tall idol on Saturday evening, an accident that left two people dead and five others injured.

The incident occurred while the idol was being transported from a Ganesh idol workshop in Byculla towards Bhuleshwar. The procession was reportedly nearing the pandal, with the idol around 50–100 feet away, when it suddenly collapsed from the crane.

Two killed, five injured

The deceased have been identified as Bhuleshwar Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal president Sanket Nevshe and office-bearer Brijesh Joshi. Five others, including two young girls, sustained injuries in the accident.

A preliminary police investigation has pointed towards a possible technical failure in the support mechanism used to hold the massive idol.

According to preliminary findings reported by News18 Marathi, an important nut and bolt in the support system reportedly came loose while the idol was being moved using a crane. The sudden pressure on the mechanism is suspected to have caused the support to give way, making the idol lose balance and crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and the exact cause of the collapse is yet to be conclusively established.

‘Was it Bappa’s sign?’

Amid the grief following the accident, an earlier video of the idol has caught the attention of devotees online. Photographer @neophyte_clicker_, who captured moments of Bhuleshwar Cha Raja before the procession, shared footage showing a garland falling from the idol.

Sharing the video, the photographer wrote, “Was it Bappa’s sign?”

The footage has since triggered a wave of emotional reactions, with some devotees interpreting the moment as a possible warning, while others urged people not to attach supernatural meaning to a tragic accident.

One user commented in Marathi, “To sangat hota, ‘Aata mala gheun naka jau.’ Ha sandesh hota Bappa cha… pan aamhalach tar kalat nahi na.” (He was telling us, ‘Don’t take me now.’ It was Bappa’s message… but we just didn’t understand it.)

Another user wrote, “Now even Bappa is saying, stop making fun of him. Tyachya navavar swatachi prashansa band kara.” (Now even Bappa is saying, stop making fun of him. Stop praising yourselves in his name.)

Another user urged people not to speculate about the incident, writing, “Honarya goshti hotat, ugaach kaangava karu naye. Jene karun Ganesh Utsavala galbot lagu naye." (What has to happen will happen; there is no need to create unnecessary drama, so that the Ganesh festival does not get tarnished.)

Another user commented, "We humbly request all devotees not to blame anyone, spread rumours, or share any misleading or unverified information on social media. During this difficult time, let us support one another and sincerely pray at Bappa’s feet."

As the investigation continues, the viral video has opened an emotional conversation among devotees. While many are seeing the footage through a spiritual lens, others are calling for restraint and sensitivity, especially as families and the community mourn the two lives lost in the tragic incident.
