On Friday, May 8, passersby enjoying the riverside noticed sudden movement in the water. A frightened dog had fallen into the river and was struggling to find a way out.
Despite swimming desperately, the animal could not climb the steep quay walls. Witnesses watched as the situation grew increasingly tense, fearing exhaustion or drowning could set in at any moment.
People immediately gathered, realising the dog needed urgent help.
Strangers unite for a rescue mission
Instead of standing by, onlookers coordinated an impromptu rescue effort. A chain located nearby became the group’s first tool. Several people moved together along the edge, attempting to guide the dog toward safety.
Roland, who captured the rescue on video, later told Le Parisien, “We all moved towards the chain so he would follow us, but he thought we were abandoning him and started to cry.”
The emotional moment showed just how frightened the animal had become as it searched for reassurance.

As minutes passed and the dog continued struggling, one man decided to act without hesitation. He carefully descended toward the water and ultimately slipped in while trying to grab the animal.
