Bengaluru: Bengaluru witnessed a peculiar sight following heavy rainfall on Saturday, March 22, as thick, snow-like foam blanketed parts of the city. While the showers brought much-needed relief from the heat, it was the unexpected foamy streets that grabbed netizens' attention.
Videos circulating on social media captured the unusual phenomenon, particularly near the NIMHANS Dairy Circle. One such video, shared by an Instagram user named Milan, showed streets coated in dense white foam, with vehicles leaving trails as they moved through it. The caption of the post read, "Does anyone know what’s happening? Bangalore’s streets turned into a foam party after an unexpected summer rain!"

The unusual foamy streets of Bengaluru sparked a wave of reactions online, with social media users speculating on the possible causes behind the phenomenon.
One user attributed the foam to natural elements, explaining, “It’s caused due to the impression of soapnuts fallen from the soapnut tree (Shikakai) when raindrops fall over them and simultaneous vehicular movement causes. Foam-like appearances… These are common… These soapnuts are used in shampoos and Shikakai powder like Samrat."
Another user took a humorous approach, joking, “Someone dropped Surf Excel while driving back home."
A third person shared a witty remark, writing, “Yesterday while heading back home I thought this was new Manali Bangalore Yojna scheme under where the artificial snow is created and spread onto the road. Ig it’s most prolly mid Acid Rain."
