Instagram-based content creator Mohamed Ashik shared a video of a 120-year-old man selling candies for a living, suggesting that age is just a number. He introduced an elderly man named Mohamed Abu Salim to his followers and described him as a "Hardworking man, originally from Burma, selling candies for the past 50 years". In the now-viral reel, Ashik spoke to him and brought his story of life on camera.

Elderly candy maker hails from Burma
"I am 120. I make coconut candy. I also make ginger candy and glucose candy. I sell all these candies (translated from Tamil)", he said, mentioning that he has been into the candies business for the past 50 years.
Abu Salim told viewers that he was from Burma and moved to India after losing his family in a tragic accident. He then shared that he started making candies for a living, which he continues to do even today.
In the video, the elderly man said, "I am from Burma. All sweets are tasty. Ginger candies are excellent", trying to convince the content creator to try a few. "Glucose candies are great too", he added.
"Back in my days, I used to walk everywhere and sell. I've been to every street...", the 120-year-old candy maker said, noting that he has offered candies to people at Cuddalore, Villuppuram, Thindivanam, Mayavaram, Kumbakonam and other areas of Tamil Nadu. But, today, people walked into his home and purchase from him.
"I don't have diabetes"
The video also showed the man igniting his stove and preparing his products.
When asked whether he consumed his candies himself, he said, "I too eat few candies, maybe 2-3 each day".
Noting his old age and sweet consumption, Ashik asked whether he is healthy and free from diabetes. "People are getting diabetes and BP these days and you are eating these candies...", the Instagrammer said. The man didn't let Ashik complete. He confidently said, "I don't have anything".
This video has gone viral on Instagram. It has already gathered more than one lakh likes.
