The Dispute Over the Gold Chain
According to reports, Rasanga had borrowed the gold chain from Rajapaksa and later pawned it without his knowledge, leading to legal action. Thalangama Police arrested the actress, and she was later presented before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. Rasanga was granted bail on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each.
During court proceedings, Rasanga’s defence stated that arrangements could be made to redeem the pawned chain. However, the actress later told the media that the chain had been gifted to her during a personal relationship. The court has directed the Thalangama Police to take custody of the chain and present it before the next hearing, scheduled for April 22.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s Cricket Career
Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 34, played for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 and 2024, featuring in 13 matches and scoring 277 runs at an average of 23.08 with a strike rate of 145.02, including one half-century. He has been out of the Sri Lankan national team since November 2025.
Rajapaksa has previously been in the spotlight for controversial comments, including allegations about Indian cricket bats before the T20 World Cup 2026. He later clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that his remarks were meant as praise for Indian cricket’s advanced infrastructure and high-quality equipment.
