What Is NADA's Registered Testing Pool? Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill Among 14 Indian Cricketers Added To Roster

The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has added prominent Indian cricketers Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill to its roster of Registered Testing Pool (RTP). This initiative from NADA is to expand its anti-doping program by including more elite and centrally contracted players. In total, 14 men and women cricketers have been named in the newly updated RTP roster for 2025.

According to the Times of India report, the other names in the list include includes Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh from the men’s team. On the women’s side, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, and Renuka Singh Thakur have been included.

NADA’s Dope Control Officers (DCO) will be collecting urine samples from players on the RTP list during the upcoming India vs. England white-ball series, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) already informed of the process.

What is NADA's Registered Testing Pool?

The Registered Testing Pool is designed to monitor athletes through effective out-of-competition doping tests. Players included in the RTP are required to submit their "whereabouts" information, which allows NADA to locate them for sample collection. This information includes details such as their residential address, email, phone number, training and competition schedules, overnight accommodations, and a specific one-hour window each day when they are available for testing. Failing to provide accurate whereabouts or missing tests can lead to penalties.

When was RTP roster first introduced in cricket?

NADA first introduced the RTP roster for cricketers in 2019, which included names like Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma. These players shared details of their whereabouts to facilitate urine sample collection. However, in 2020, Pujara and Jadeja were issued warnings after failing to submit their whereabouts information, which the BCCI later attributed to a technical glitch.
