Even as Virat Kohli experienced a forgettable return to the Ranji Trophy, the 36-year-old didn't shy away from clicking pictures with the ground staff after Delhi's innings win over Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In a video surfaced on social media, Kohli was seen posing with opposition players and ground staff for photos.
Although the star batter drew enormous crowds at the Arun Jaitley Stadium for the Ranji Trophy fixture, his performance didn't go as planned in the only innings he batted in. In 15 balls, the right-hander managed only six runs before Himanshu Sangwan ripped apart his off-stump. However, Delhi still won by an innings and 19 runs as Railways managed 241 and 114 in their two essays.
"First time in life I saw so many people turning up for a Ranji Trophy game" - Himanshu Sangwan
Right-arm speedster Himanshu Sangwan, who rattled Kohli's stumps in the first innings, claimed that the right-hander's wicket is the most significant of his career. He also revealed that they didn't have any special plans for any batter and said, as quoted by India Today:
"It is the most important wicket of my life. It goes without saying. Virat Kohli is an inspiration to the whole country. First time in life I saw so many people turning up for a Ranji Trophy game. It was special for all of us. We did not plan for one particular batter. The majority of the Delhi batters like to attack so our plan was stick to channel bowling and draw the outside edge."
