Mohammed Shami made instant impact on his debut for the Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2026 clash against Delhi Capitals. Off his very first ball, KL Rahul sliced a cover drive straight to Mohsin Khan at third man. Incidentally, Shami had dismissed Rahul for a duck when he made his debut for Gujarat Titans at the same stadium in 2022.

Bowling his first over in LSG colours, Shami bowled a length delivery outside off stump to Rahul. Shami got the new ball to move late, which Rahul sliced to third man.

Shami moved to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2026 season from the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 35-year-old endured a difficult season with the Hyderabad franchise, having struggled for form and fitness.
