Shahid Afridi Slams PCB Over Pakistan's Test Shake-Up, Calls It 'Most Shocking Decision Ever'

Former Pakistan star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over its decision to make major changes to the Test team in the middle of the England series. The former Pakistan captain questioned the logic behind the move after the team suffered heavy defeats in the first two Tests.

Afridi also raised questions over the players brought into the squad, saying that some T20 players have been picked for a Test match in England. He also questioned the decision to remove the coach after only five Test matches.

Afridi was particularly critical of the timing of the changes, which came after Pakistan lost the first two Tests against England.

He questioned why such a major overhaul was needed after the defeat at Lord's, especially with only one Test remaining in the series.

Afridi said, "I'm not sure what is the logic or reasoning behind this decision of making so many changes after Lord's defeat. Even the replacements makes no sense, T20 players have been included for a Test match in England. What is this thinking and approach? Why has the coach been axed after five Test matches? This is the most shocking decision ever by a selection committee which includes so many experienced selectors".

Pakistan lost the first Test by an innings before suffering a 194-run defeat in the second Test at Lord's. England consequently took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The PCB then made major changes to the Pakistan setup ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston.

Afridi's criticism is focused on both the scale and timing of the changes. He questioned the decision to bring in players with T20 experience for a Test in England and also asked why the coaching staff was changed after such a short period.

Pakistan will now enter the final Test under a significantly changed setup as they look to avoid a 3-0 series defeat. The ENG Vs PAK 3rd Test will be held at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham on September 9.
