A day after KL Rahul copped a blow to his hand while batting at the nets, Team India captain Rohit Sharma reportedly injured his knee at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) ahead of the Boxing Day Test. The 37-year-old had copped a blow to his knee when facing throwdown specialist Daya in the nets.
According to reports, the right-handed batter had continued batting even after being struck on the knee but eventually decided to get some treatment. Rohit approached the physio, who put ice pack on his knee and placed his left leg on the chair to make him feel comfortable. The veteran opening batter was reportedly wincing in pain, making it a worrying sign for the tourists, but further reports also said he was fine and fit to play the decisive clash.
Rohit Sharma under immense pressure ahead of the Boxing Day Test
Meanwhile, the Nagpur-born cricketer is under massive pressure ahead of the decisive Boxing Day Test, especially with the bat. Rohit has reached only one half-century in his last ten innings, which last came during the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand this year.
It was also the last time that the veteran passed 20 in a Test innings. The Indian captain joined the series in Australia from the second Test and has failed to make an impact, compiling scores of 3, 6 and 10 while batting at No.6.
With the series at a knife's edge, it will be boom or bust for Rohit.
