In a massive development regarding the 2023 World Cup game between India and Pakistan, the high-voltage clash has been advanced. According to media reports, the match will now take place on October 14th instead of the initial date of 15th. However, the match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had already confirmed to changes in the schedule, including for India-Pakistan matches. The apex body of Indian cricket reasoned that October 15th, the initially scheduled date of the fixture, clashes with the first day of the Navratri festival.
Highlighting that several several state boards requested for a change in the 2023 World Cup schedule, Jay Shah stated in a press conference:
"You can expect to see some changes in the original World Cup schedule which will be cleared in the coming two, three or four days, following some requests for changes from two to three member boards. The changes will be there in the schedule, but not in venues. The ICC and BCCI logistics teams are looking into it."
"A few members have requested (changes) as they have short gaps between two matches while they have a long gap of six days before their other games. We are trying to just change the date and time of matches while the venues are retained. Things will be sorted in a few days and these things happen in World Cups."
Further reports have suggested that the changes in schedule will be confirmed by August 31st.
India's peerless record against Pakistan in 50-over World Cups:
Meanwhile, India are yet to lose a 50-over World Cup game to Pakistan, having won all of it since 1992. The comprehensive 89-run win via the DLS method in the 2019 World Cup made it 7-0 for India.
Pakistan's only World Cup victory over the Men in Blue came in 2021 when Babar Azam and co. beat them in
