Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir visited the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. Accompanied by his family, Gambhir offered prayers at the sacred Mahakal Jyotirling and participated in the Bhasma Aarti ceremony. Actress Sonal Chauhan was also present. The visit to the temple comes ahead of India's upcoming Asia Cup tournament where to look to retain continental glory under new skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

Speaking to PTI about visiting the spiritual temple, Gambhir said, "This is the third time I’ve had the chance to meet Baba. Baba has called me once again this time with my family. May the Lord's blessings stay on the entire country with happiness, and continue showering his blessings on the nation. What could be better than this? Today, on the 15th of August, we celebrate our freedom. And if Baba’s blessings remain upon the country, the nation will surely move forward."
Team India salvage draw against England in Tet series
Recently, under Gambhir's guidance, Team India had managed to draw five-match Test series agaisnt England (2-2). The young squad showcased grit and resilience, making the British side work hard throughout the series.
Team India's performance under Gautam Gambhir leadership
Gambhir's tenure as Team India head coach began in July 2024. He has witnessed highs, lows and intense scrutiny. In Test cricket, results have been mixed. India has played 15 Tests under him, winning five, losing eight and drawing two.
In white-ball cricket, Gambhir’s impact has been more immediate. In T20Is, India have won 13 out of 15 games, remaining unbeaten in series.
ODIs saw an early stumble with a home series loss to Sri Lanka, but the team rebounded strongly, winning eight consecutive matches and lifting the 2025 Champions Trophy
