Former England batter Kevin Pietersen wants Sarfaraz Khan's transformation example to be shown to Prithvi Shaw, with the former reportedly losing 17 KGs after being dropped for the England tour. By retweeting a post on X, Pietersen stated that Sarfaraz has shown it can be done by having a strong body and strong mind.
Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut last year, has come under the scanner on multiple occasions due to his weight issues. However, the Mumbai-born cricketer has worked on his fitness by adhering to strict regime as a photo of the same surfaced on social media. Opener Shaw, who started his career promisingly with a Test hundred on debut, has faded in the last few years and been facing criticism from all corners.
Taking to X, Pietersen wrote:
"Outstanding effort, young man! Huge congrats and I’m sure it’s going to lead to better and more consistent performances on the field. I love the time you’ve spent reorganising your priorities! LFG! Can someone show Prithvi this please? It can be done! Strong body, strong mind!"
Sarfaraz Khan last played a Test in November 2024
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz hasn't played for India since November 2024 when the Asian Giants faced New Zealand in the Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The right-handed batter has featured in six Tests so far, accumulating 371 runs at 37.10 alongside a best of 150.
As for Shaw, the opener hasn't played for India since 2021 and has also left his domestic side of Mumbai to play for Maharashtra.
