For too long, we have been told that Ramayana and Mahabharata are mythology. Whereas less logical texts all over the world has been viewed as history. It almost seems like a deliberate conspiracy by evangelists who wanted to convert us by making us disown our own religion. Recently with the discovery of Dwarka underwater, the city of Lord Krishna, exactly where Bet Dwarka was supposed to be has moved from a myth to history. It was predicted that it would go underwater which it did and has been for centuries.

Many religious texts in the world talk about a flood, which covered much of the earth. Scientifically there seems to be some sort of circumstantial evidence for this. More than 10,000 years ago much of the Earth ‘s water was in the glaciers. We were just coming out of an ice age. With the ice and the glaciers melting besides global warming, there was a huge amount of water released from the glaciers into the oceans. This led to the sinking of many places including Dwarka and the story of floods in other cultures. Whereas none of the other cultures have found any historical evidence, here we have a unique situation where the city of Dwarka which went under water has been found. Underwater explorations are still going on. It is supposed to be a huge city. There are many books like the Mahabharata, the Skanda Purana, that talk about this. Hence, the event is no more a myth, rather it is history.

Not only that, in other cultures the Great Flood was supposed to be God's voice speaking to them. And still barring a few survivors, everyone drowned. Whereas when the city of Dwarka went under, we had the knowledge of the oceans, and the rising water enough to ensure that most of the people of Dwarka were evacuated to other areas. That says something about our progress as a civilisation station 5000 years ago or more. Let us have some respect for a culture and heritage and proudly own it up.
