Heavy rains lashed several parts of Pune, including Swargate, Baner, Kondhwa, Katraj and Bibwewadi, among others, on Friday, bringing much-needed relief to Punekars from the scorching heat.
However, the heavy rains have resulted in waterlogging at several places. Videos of the waterlogging have gone viral on social media. In one of the videos from Baner, a bike is seen floating as other vehicles wade through knee-deep water. In another video from Swargate, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus depot is seen waterlogged, with commuters struggling to board and deboard the buses.

Meanwhile, due to the rains, temperatures have dropped significantly, providing respite for Punekars who had to endure the third hottest April in the last decade — on 14 days, the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees last month.
The cloudy skies and occasional rains are likely to persist for a week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said.
