The burst also led to severe waterlogging on the road, impacting traffic movement in the area. Commuters faced difficulties navigating the stretch as water gushed onto the streets.
Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Deepak Waghmare, a local resident, said, "The water pipe burst just close to the previously completed work on another broken water pipeline. A 700 mm pipe was affected due to the high water pressure. In the last three months, the same pipe has burst more than five times. The affected line is too old, leading to repeated damage."
Shailesh Kamble, another resident, highlighted, "The water supply has been affected in several areas. The water flow is too strong. We struggled a lot to stop it from entering our house. The civic body needs to find a permanent solution."
This pipeline burst comes at a time when Pune faces an impending water crisis amid peak summer.
