Members of ABVP alleged that this is not the first time that students have faced such incidents in the university. Student safety has been put on the back foot, and the absence of CCTV cameras and a shortage of security staff have led to such incidents. The university administration is aware of the negligence, and despite this, it has not taken any major steps to curb such incidents, ABVP members alleged.

Anushree Vispute, Office Secretary, ABVP Pune, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "Despite taking action against such offenders, the administration was trying to stop the filing of the FIR by threatening students with problems in their careers. We are demanding the suspension of the officials who were engaged in preventing the filing of the case. Additionally, security measures such as CCTV, security staff at the girls hostel, and basic amenities in the hostel should be increased on priority. If the demand is not fulfilled, we will stage protests strongly with more crowds."
According to sources, the accused delivery boy had targeted the woman, and whenever she ordered anything, he used to deliver it. On the day of the incident, he removed his pants in front of the girl.

What was the case?
A delivery worker has been accused of behaving inappropriately with female international students at Savitribai Phule Pune University on Friday night, sparking strong reactions from Senate members after the issue was raised during the university’s budget meeting on Saturday.
The incident took place in a building within the university’s professors’ residential complex, which is currently being used to accommodate international students due to a shortage of space in the designated hostel.
According to a student, the delivery boy had arrived to hand over an order when he allegedly removed his pants in front of the international student. The students immediately alerted the university’s security personnel, who then accompanied them to the nearest police outpost to file a complaint.
However, the students later claimed that some officials pressured them to withdraw the complaint and to submit a written statement to that effect.
