Built in 1951, the Bund Garden Police Station, located near the Pune District Collector's Office, is set to be demolished in a few weeks.
Why is the Bund Garden Police Station being demolished?
The land currently occupied by the Bund Garden Police Station belongs to the Collector's Office. The district administration wants to expand its premises on the land of the existing police station. Meanwhile, they have also allocated funds of Rs 29 crore for the construction of a new police station.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said they have decided to shift the station to the Somwar Peth Police Colony for a couple of years till the construction of a new police station takes place. The new police station will be built opposite the Central Building.
History of the Bund Garden Police Station:
The 74-year-old station still has wooden staircases and floors. Its jurisdiction was carved out of a larger Wanorie Police Station. It has seen some high-profile cases like the Telgi Stamp Paper Scam, the German Bakery Bomb Blast, etc.
