A mentally challenged man on Saturday morning climbed a banyan tree near Hadapsar Police Station in Pune and demanded to meet Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, officials said.

According to an official, the man has been identified as Sachin Haribhau Jadhav (31), a resident of the neighbouring Ahmednagar district. The incident took place at 9am, he added.
"After the man climbed the tree and made the demand, the fire brigade was informed quickly, while the Hadapsar Police Station staff was trying to bring him down. Before the fire brigade arrived, he jumped from the tree and got minor injuries to his hand. He has been sent to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment. We have informed his relative about the incident," the official informed.
"Prima facie, due to mental illness, he was demanding to meet the Chief Minister. Further investigation is underway," he concluded.
