Amid severe rains lashing Pune, NCP-SP Working President Supriya Sule on Monday urged the district administration to take urgent action against illegal and dangerous hoardings.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Baramati MP wrote, "A large number of hoardings have been put up in Pune district and city areas. In most places, they have been erected in a dangerous manner. Often, accidents occur due to the collapse of hoardings. It has come to light that there has been a loss of life and property. It is currently raining heavily, and the wind is also blowing. In this situation, there is a need to be more vigilant about hoardings."

"I request the Pune district collector, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and the Pune municipal commissioner to strictly implement the guidelines regarding hoardings. Action should be taken against hoardings erected in a dangerous manner as well as illegal hoardings. This is very important to avoid potential danger," she added.

This comes only a few days after two large advertising hoardings collapsed in the Sanaswadi area on the Pune-Ahmednagar Road, trapping seven to eight motorcycles underneath. Another massive hoarding came down on Porwal Road in Dhanori. However, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incidents.
